AeroMobile sees 30% increase in connected aircraft in the first half of 2014

The number of aircraft offering the AeroMobile service, which allows passengers to use their own mobile phones inflight just as they would abroad, has increased by 30% in the first six months of 2014, reaching a total of 245 aircraft across 13 different airlines.

Qantas keen on gate-to-gate gadgets, inflight Internet

Qantas expects a decision on the use of tablets and smartphones during take-off and landing “within the next month or two”.

The airline is working with Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to gain approval for these and other ‘personal electronic devices’ to be switched on and used through all stages of the flight.
