55% of Aircraft Equipped with In-Flight Connectivity by 2024, Says Valour Consultancy

Despite the entrance and exit of AT&T into in-flight connectivity (IFC) in the space of just seven months, there is plenty of optimism in the market. The number of aircraft being equipped with cellular and/or Wi-Fi technology continues to grow – and rapidly. According to Valour Consultancy’s latest research, the installed base of connected aircraft will reach 4,144 by the end of 2014.

airberlin equips whole fleet with Wi-Fi service

The airberlin group has equipped the first two aircraft in its fleet with the new ‘airberlin connect’ Wi-Fi service. The two Airbus A320, registered D-ABNJ and OE-LEL, now boast a Wi-Fi system from Panasonic Avionics Corporation, so passengers can access the internet with their own smartphone, tablet or laptop during the flight.
