Alaska Airlines looks to upgrade to faster Gogo inflight Wi-Fi
Acknowledging that passengers’ appetite for bandwidth has increased Alaska Airlines management has revealed to investors it is looking to upgrade its Gogo inflight Wi-Fi solution to the faster ATG-4 offering. During Alaska’s recent investor day, the airline was asked if it is “happy” with its current Gogo inflight Wi-Fi offering. “Are we happy? No,” was the short answer.

Virgin America Becomes First Airline To Offer Gogo’s Faster ATG-4 Inflight WiFi Service Fleetwide
Virgin America, the Silicon Valley-based airline known for its innovative and business-friendly amenities, today announces the fleetwide rollout of Gogo’s faster ATG-4 WiFi service – with the completion this week of ATG-4 WiFi installation on its Airbus A319 plane “Jane” (N526VA).

American Airlines Group (AAL) Selects Gogo (GOGO) for Regional, In-Flight Wireless Connectivity
As a part of its $2 billion investment to give customers a world-class travel experience, American Airlines (Nasdaq: AAL) will upgrade its regional fleet by adding Gogo (Nasdaq: GOGO) inflight wireless services to all two-class regional jets. Nearly 250 of American’s regional aircraft will have inflight wireless Internet service installed by 2016.

Over 200,000 passengers have used Emirates’ free onboard Wi-Fi since October this year, taking advantage of the airline’s service to connect with family, friends or colleagues when they fly.

Connectivity Fuels Flying Hospital
In an effort to assist with air transportation of aid workers and patients infected by the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus, Lufthansa has donated one of its aircraft, originally scheduled for retirement, to the German Foreign Office. With onboard communications provided by Panasonic Avionics, the three entities — Lufthansa, Panasonic Avionics and the German Foreign Office — are now using a reconfigured Airbus A340-300 aircraft to fly aid workers and patients to Germany for treatment of the disease.
