Honeywell gets YouTube videos to play over global in-flight WiFi

Paving the way for a new era of in-flight wireless connectivity similar to what is available at home or in the office, Honeywell Aerospace (NYSE:HON) and Inmarsat (LSE:ISAT.L) have successfully completed the first phase of hardware and satellite network flight tests for GX Aviation broadband services. Honeywell’s JetWave-branded hardware enables airplanes to connect to Inmarsat’s Global Xpress satellite constellation for GX Aviation global Ka-band in-flight Wi-Fi services.

Gogo snags first South American customer for 2Ku

Brazilian airline GOL is the first South American airline to sign for Gogo inflight connectivity, as reported in RGN Premium last week, with a new fleetwide deal for Gogo’s 2Ku product, which is expected to start offering inflight wifi from “towards the middle of 2016”, according to Gogo.
