New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz but the city’s charms go beyond the music-filled streets of the old French Quarter; its history at the crossroads of French, Spanish and African cultures is also reflected in its cuisine. From gumbo to turtle soup and from shaved catfish to po’boy, there’s no shortage of flavors in the culinary landscape of the Big Easy. Our guide on this journey is celebrity chef and author John Besh. With several restaurants and accolades under his belt, Besh is the Louisiana homeboy whose dishes celebrate the bounty and traditions of his region. Chef Besh takes us through the sights, sounds and flavors of Jazz Fest, which once a year celebrates the food and music of Louisiana.
